In this particular location, last in the process of realization, the wall paper position appeared as important as the art work it self for two reasons: Dubrovacka 24 residents were experiancing problems with youngsters scribbling on the elevator and building walls. The second reason was a pocket size of the foyer space.
The suggestion was to make 2 wallpapers: ‘art work for adults’ and ‘graffiti for kids’ (the aim was to engage young residents to make their own wallpaper out of their own drawings; the ‘wall-paper-graffiti’ supposed to be placed near the stair ways and the action supposed to create the sense of value of ones efforts so to safeguard the art work from possible destruction or damage).
The negotiations about art work location brought several very reasonable yet unattainable suggestions due to budget limitations. Therefore, the elevator waiting area of the building lobby was selected as the location most suitable to the project in whole.
Winning motif A view of New Belgrade and Zemun with a War Island, by Dragan Ambrozic was unexpectedly placed in the corner of the elevator waiting area.
Beside a regular canvas activities, Building Assembly treasurer, Dragan Todorovic, initiated action for installing a spot lights to insure the proper visibility of art work and, also, to highlight the cultural and artistic value of the whole project.
