contemporary art project

The communication with participant from this location was the poorest one. The cooperation was reduced to a motif enquire and was burdened by the political engagement on the local level.

But the art work and its location in the building came out as the most visually effective. Long and narrow foyer, with a lack of sunlight and quite high ceiling, just recovered and painted after fire accident, gave not so many options for work installation. A place for the art work appeared after elimination of easily reachable places – an empty space above internal glass door. One motif suggestion, inspired with experience from Solunska 36 (A view of Lower City with Nebojsa Tower) was quickly agreed upon by Building Assembly members and voted by majority of residents.
What was interesting is that during the process of production the author was strictly kept away from meeting residents or speaking to them. It looked like the action was kept anonymous and on the level of pure communal action and mere decoration.

The real hurdles revolved around transportation of the print and hanging the print on the wall. Despite the fact that one of the building residents and the first door neighbor was owner of the taxi association, transportation help wasn’t a choice. Only latter will it appear that he played a key role in realization of the project.

After the installation, the project credits and thanks ‘mysteriously’ disappeared along with the canvass results the same day the work was placed in the building. No one informed the author about the incident.

The contact with building representative ended right after the project end with no possabilitz or space for its continuation. Was this project supposed to bring cheap political points?
